Produktbeschreibung
This book examines the prospects of enhancing crop production in Nigeria in the context of a new paradigm of precision farming with geoinformatics. In this regard, the traditional methods of land appraisal and suitability assessment (land classification by physiographic regions, vegetation and land facets; as well as land evaluation by land capability, soil fertility and suitability classification) are examined and their inadequacies for optimum agricultural land use planning and production in Nigeria highlighted. Consequently, this study uses a Remote Sensing and GIS based Land Suitability Assessment methodology to examine the prospects of enhanced crop production in Nigeria with particular emphasis on the concept of precision farming.
