Autorenporträt
Henry Cabot Lodge (May 12, 1850 - November 9, 1924) was a Republican politician, historian, and statesman. He was a member of the United States Senate from 1893 to 1924 and is best known for his foreign policy stances. His successful battle against Woodrow Wilson's pact of Versailles meant that the United States never joined the League of Nations, and his objections about that pact informed the contemporary United Nations framework. Lodge earned four degrees from Harvard University and was a well-known historian. His personal friendship with Theodore Roosevelt began in 1884 and lasted throughout their lives, even when Roosevelt left the Republican Party in 1912.
