April L. Kameka is the author of Grasshopper Stew (2024). She has been following the lives of mountain gorillas like Georgie since the 1980s. She sponsors orphan gorilla care and habitat preservation in Virunga, Africa. April hopes to raise awareness and inspire families to help protect these amazing animals for future generations. April finds joy in reading, writing, creating art, kayaking, biking and traveling. April is a mom and an aunt. The Georgie & Friends stories were inspired by fun rhyming tales told to her nephew, while enjoying a lakeside lifestyle, north of Toronto, Canada.
