This study focused on the determination of the geotechnical properties of the sand from the Nepenet quarry with a view to proposing an upgrading system. This study focused on the determination of the geotechnical properties of the sand from the Nepenet quarry with a view to proposing an upgrading system. The results of laboratory analysis of a few samples of the said construction materials gave 67.59%; 1.35 and 2.49g/cm3 for sand equivalent (ES), bulk density test and specific weight respectively. As for the granulometric analysis (AG), the curve resulting from the results showed that the sand exploited in the Nepenet quarry has a calibrated granulometry because the uniformity coefficient (Cu) obtained is greater than 2. These results are characteristic of a slightly clayey sand, suitable for use in construction work. In addition, the value of 2.5 of the fineness modulus indicates that these sands have good properties to be used as a component of conventional concretes, suitable for achieving good resistance and guaranteeing the durability of the works undertaken. The improvement of the quality of the said construction materials lies in the implementation of an efficient washing system to make these materials cleaner.
