Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866) ist heute oft nur durch die Vertonung seiner 'Kindertodtenlieder' durch Gustav Mahler ein Begriff. Dabei galt er seinerzeit als der bedeutendste Lyriker deutscher Sprache. Bekannt war er auch als Gelehrter und Übersetzer nah- und fernöstlicher Lyrik.
