Mavis Cheek, geboren im englischen Wimbledon, arbeitete zwölf Jahre lang in einem englischen Kunstverlag, bevor sie sich ganz dem Schreiben widmete. Für ihren Debütroman "Luft schnappen" wurde sie mit dem SHE/John Menzies First Novel Preis ausgezeichnet. Mavis Cheek lebt mit ihrer Tochter in London.
