Based on real events, the characters in this novel, including well known sports and Olympic heroes, are fictional, including the participants of the 4x100 meter Olympic team, those who ran for the American squad, in Berlin, August, 1936, or those whom did not compete because they were Jewish..A compendium of American race hatred in the Twentieth Century, with the hindsight of historical perspective, Ghost Runners, an Olympic Dream Betrayed is closer to the immediacy and passion of real-time events. Fiction and reality are blurred in warped speed. The race is over before it begins, but the hurt from race hatred is often eternal. After over 40 years, the story haunts; there is no justice nor peace. The novel is permanently housed in the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Library in Washington, D.C.
Autorenporträt

Only recently have I come to realize why Ghost Runners is a lifetime obsession: The effects of racial or gender discrimination never end. there is no justice, no mercy for its victims. ... presently updating the prequel to Ghost Runners, a large print, savage indictment of American racism and sexism in the roaring twenties, called The White Bridge. I spend my time teaching, swimming, or driving to Maryland and Virginia to be with my growing family. It's a blessing, beyond my imaginings.
