Sue Batton Leonard's first publication, a memoir, Gift of a Lifetime: Finding Fulfilling Things in the Unexpected won two EVVY Awards in the categories of anthology and audio books. It also won an award in the Young Adult category of the 2014 Harvest Book Competition. Lessons of Heart and Soul, is an e-book of ten short stories cut from the manuscript of Gift of a Lifetime, and previously unpublished. The beginnings of Sew the Heart came during the National Novel Writing Month 2014 as a personal challenge to write fiction.
