Kay Hooper wurde in Kalifornien auf einem Luftwaffenstützpunkt geboren. Nach der Geburt des dritten Kindes zog die Familie nach North Carolina, wo Kay noch heute lebt. Nach dem Highschool-Abschluss studierte sie zunächst Wirtschaftswissenschaften, fand daran aber nicht so recht Gefallen, sodass sie erst auf Geschichte und schließlich auf Literaturwissenschaft umsattelte

Schon früher war es Lisa Kleypas größter Wunsch, eines Tages erfolgreich Bücher zu schreiben. Mit 21 Jahren ging dieser Traum in Erfüllung: Ihr erster Liebesroman wurde veröffentlicht. Seitdem hat sie zahlreiche historische Romances verfasst, die eine weltweite Fangemeinde gefunden haben. Unsere Erfolgsautorin lebt mit ihrem Mann und ihren beiden Kindern in Texas.
