Autorenporträt
The author was born in the Caribbean island of Jamaica, and -- although he refrains from naming the island in his book -- the history, folk ways and native foods of Jamaica are all explored in its pages. Expatriate Jamaicans, especially, will enjoy a nostalgic sojourn as they share Genevieve's great adventure. There's also an underlying message that may be of topical importance -- the debt owed to the descendants of the slaves who built those islands (and the great nation of America).
