In Bangladesh the prevalence of child labor has in recent years, become a serious problem and prime concern for both the government and people. Information presented in this book are based on a practical survey project that was conducted by the author himself - out of the desire to know about the status of the most unfortunate segment of the country's population. Dhaka City Corporation was taken as the basis of the survey since it was expected that being the capital as well as most prosperous region of the country the extent of the child labor in this region will portray a representative picture of the whole country. Intricate information was collected on different important differentials relating to child labor. Although there existed much broader scope for the study, due to some constraints it was not possible to carry out extensive research work with a considerably large sample involving numerous other socio economic indicators, which were not covered under this study.
