Mrs. Loudon (1788 - 1860) was an Irish-born author and writer, best known for her novels in the early 19th century. Mrs. Loudon first gained recognition for her novels that explored themes of social class, morality, and personal dilemmas. Her works, including First Love: A Novel (1830), Fortune-Hunting: A Novel (1832), and Dilemmas of Pride, often depicted characters navigating the emotional and moral complexities of relationships, social expectations, and pride. Many of her novels were concerned with the internal struggles of individuals-especially women-who had to balance personal desires with societal pressures, focusing on the intersection of love, class, and duty.
