A bookshop, particularly an Olde Bookshoppe, is home to the world. It is a meeting place for all sorts of people, good and bad, old and young, amazing and ignored, and there we get a glimpse into their worlds. We may, or may not, ever see them again. Linda van Omme grew up on beautiful Prince Edward Island. Her parents were farmers and oyster fishermen. She began writing at about age six. Her first poem, My Mother, may not have been particularly poetic, but it certainly pleased her mother. Linda was educated in a tiny country schoolhouse, then the big high school in Charlottetown, and went on to train as an occupational therapist and work, for 42 years, all across Canada, with the wonderful characters in this great country. She and her husband John have three daughters, and now five lovely, and very active, grandchildren.
