Liu is Wun Tsun Tam Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University, where she teaches in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and at the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society. Anupama Rao is professor of history at Barnard College and professor of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies and director of the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University.
