In February 2008, Newman moved to Ottawa and now anchors from a specially-built digital newsroom and studio facility in the city. Global National is the only Canadian national news to be regularly anchored from the capital. The newscast's main editorial and production staff remain at CHAN-TV in Vancouver from which the Ottawa studio's cameras are controlled remotely. Similar remote-controlled greenscreen studios have been introduced at a number of local Global newscasts. Carolyn Jarvis and Robin Gill currently share the weekend anchor position of Global National, hosting on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Formerly the position was held by Tara Nelson, who became Global's Europe bureau chief in September 2008.
