It is conducted to review the polio eradication status, its feasibility and present challenges in polio eradication in PAIN countries focusing on reasons for polio presence, quality of surveillance and to reveal if quality of surveillance is good enough for polio eradication certification. Review of available literature on polio eradication using standard PRISMA guidelines for a systematic review. More than 2800 published records were screened and 155 articles were included in the present study. Polio eradication is feasible as per the progress of GPEI if required inroads are made in Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and all other indigenous polio free countries through proper and timely interventions in relation to social mobilization, quality of SIAs and improvement in surveillance. Time elapsing is the decisive factor for the success of GPEI. Global efforts are warranted as if in emergency situation, to take the advantage of present scenario of polio eradication. If all out efforts are made to counter the present challenges, polio eradication has never ever been closer.
