The book investigates the topic of the globalisation of the arts and concerns brought about by the advent of post-colonial theory. As Dr. Anita Seppä suggests, there exists a vast number of contemporary artists who are not merely attempting to describe, but also to re-imagine and rewrite the historical and present norms and models that limit and guide our sense of location, borders, memory, and belonging in the globalising world. Herein also lies much of the political potentiality of these artists, taken that we understand their works as counter-discourses, or counter-sites that simultaneously represent, contest and invert the truths that have been normalized as reality.
