Tomá Bertók is a research scientist at the Institute of Chemistry, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Slovakia. His research is focused on assay development and medical diagnostics of different diseases using nanotechnology, (bio)sensors, and surface modifications for glycomics. He is a recipient of numerous national and international awards and individual grants, including Top Student Personality of Slovakia (2014), an award from the president of Slovakia for research in life sciences (2014), Forbes Slovakia 30 under 30 (2016), Slovakia's Young Scientist of the Year (2016), and the Danubius Young Scientist Award from the Austrian Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (2016). Dr. Bertók has published over 38 original papers with more than 700 citations, 3 book chapters, and 1 book for the popularization of nanobiotechnologies among high school and university students, and co-founded a diagnostic startup, Glycanostics.
