The Present investigation entitled "GMS BASED HYBRIDS IN DESHI COTTON" was undertaken to estimate the combining ability effects and extent of heterosis, to estimate the combining ability effects and thereby to find out promising cross combinations using Line x Tester mating design.The set of ten parents, two females (GMS line) viz.,GAK-423,GAK-8615 and eight males (tester) viz.,AKA-9703,AKA-0110,AKA-9620,AKA-9009-1,AKA-0209,AKA-5,AKA-7,HD-162 and their 16 crosses along with check PKV Suvarna were evaluated in randomized block design with three replication. The data were recorded on the characters viz., days to 50% flowering, plant height, number of monopodia per plant, number of sympodia per plant, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, ginning percentage, seed index, 2.5% span length, fiber strength, fiber fineness, per cent oil content and seed cotton yield per plant.The results thus obtained were presented.
