PAIGE JEFFCOAT, 51 years old, was born and raised on the outskirts of a very small town, North, South Carolina. Yes, that is the name of the town. She grew up in the country with her parents, that just celebrated 58 years of marriage and her two brothers. She is the middle child and only girl. She grew up a tomboy playing in the mud, woods, climbing trees, hunting, and fishing. She had a "girly" side as well as she enjoyed playing with her Barbie dolls. At the age of 18, she walked away from church and found herself walking on a crooked path. She suffered through 30 years of alcoholism, depression, and addictions. There were several suicide attempts seeking to be released from the pain she felt throughout life. She had lost all hope for a better future and had accepted defeat over alcohol and drugs. At the age of 48, she decided to ask for the right kind of help and went to a recovery center, she had finally been given the gift of desperation. Paige has 4 wonderful adult children and 8 grandchildren with another one on the way, as of this writing. She has returned to her hometown church, North United Methodist Church in hopes of bringing new growth and life into the church. Although, she returned to this church, she is not religious, she's spiritual and has found the connection with God that she was missing in her life. She found that God is not religious. Jesus is not religious. It is only sin that separates one from a true connection between oneself and a relationship with the Father. Paige was just elected for a seat on the Town Council of North, South Carolina and has a heart of wanting to help others. She believes that for change to happen, one must be part of the change. Change and growth requires action not just wishing for things to be different. She also continues to mentor females in recovery. She gives back what she's been freely given, love, grace, and mercy. As a Christian believer, she's found that one can only lead by example. I pray this helps those who are in search for freedom and like me, I found it.
