The Bible teaches us not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is it's own trouble. Jesus is not telling us not to plan for tomorrow. Because he who fails to plan, plans to fail! But rather this is a warning against borrowing trouble from tomorrow and bringing it into today to worry about it today. In banker's terminology He's saying don't go to the bank of life and withdraw trouble from tomorrow to worry about it today because the interest on what you borrow is too much to pay. Some of us have anxiety about things that may never happen. I don't know who I'm talking to but some of us have been eaten up by worry. Some of us have been eaten up by anxiety. Some of us have been eaten up by stress. But I stopped to tell you that God does not want us to be controlled by our anxiety and worry. He does not want us to live in fear. Because God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, peace, and a sound mind. And I've made up my mind that I'm not going to live in worry! I'm not worried about how my needs are going to be met! I'm not worried about who's in congress! I'm not worried about them cutting this or that! Because I don't know what tomorrow holds, I'm glad I know who holds tomorrow! And because he lives, I can face tomorrow! Because he lives, my fears are gone! Because I know who holds the future! Because I know who holds the future, life is worthy living because He lives!
