In contemporary sociology, social philosophy and social theory Goffman and Giddens occupy very significant positions. But their works have been less debated in terms of existential concerns. In this work the author has attempted to look at this dimension by clearly making a distinction between continental existentialist philosophy and what he terms as existencialism.
