The Sri Lankan Precambrian basement is one of the high-grade terrains with enormous international interest relevant to all aspects of geology due to its central position within the Gondwana Supercontinent. This has made the island subjected to numerous studies by many experts during the last few decades. Produktbeschreibung
The Sri Lankan Precambrian basement is one of the high-grade terrains with enormous international interest relevant to all aspects of geology due to its central position within the Gondwana Supercontinent. This has made the island subjected to numerous studies by many experts during the last few decades. Several workers presented various scenarios and models to understand tectonic amalgamation of the litho-tectonic units of Sri Lanka during the super continent Gondwana assembly at ca, 550 Million years ago. In this book, the Section 1 presents Platinum Group elements (PGE) and Gold (Au) from metamorphosed mafic ortho-gneisses from Sri Lanka, combining with major and rare earth elements (REE). The Section 2 describes Au and PGE geochemistry of meta-igneous rocks from the same Gondwana terrain together with major and trace elements. The book gives an overall picture on how difficult for the calcophile and siderophile elements to get concentrated in mafic-intermediate-garnitic rocks.
