Hunter S. Thompson wurde 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky geboren. Er begann seine Laufbahn als Sportjournalist, bevor er Reporter für den Rolling Stone und als Begründer des Gonzo-Journalismus zu einer Ikone der Hippiebewegung wurde. Hunter S. Thompson nahm sich am 20.02.2005 in seinem Wohnort Woody Creek, Colorado, das Leben.
