Good Different is a book told from a perspective of a nameless fish with autism who is preparing for his first day of school. The character is nervous about how he will be accepted by his classmates, but finds comfort in us, the reader simply listening to him vent. Like so many kids with autism, the character struggles to navigate a world full of judgmental "normal" people. Throughout the book, while providing intriguing historic and scientific facts, we see the character grow in his confidence to confront the normalcy that is expected of him. He shows that he's willing to stand firm in his refusal not to change himself to make others comfortable.
