Parents are the most influential adults in their children's lives, and are therefore the best presenters of God's plan of salvation. This parent-and-child devotional empowers parents to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by pairing scripture with simple but powerful illustrations. Playing off the letter U, the book explains how we are vessels designed by God to be filled by God himself. Through our own free choice, however, we allow ourselves to be filled with the evils of this world. Scott's illustrations make the problem abundantly clear. And the solution is brilliantly simple: "Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:27 NIV). The 55 illustrations in the book visualize Biblical truth and explain complicated theological terms like "atonement." Parent-friendly discussion questions and answers empower the parents to lead their children through the forty-five-day devotional on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sixty-one kid-friendly definitions, written on a third-grade reading level, make the devotional simple but powerful. The lyrics from ten classic Christian hymns and over 250 scriptures inspire the child and parent to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Now, children can understand who they are, the corruption of the world, Satan, God, and God's purpose for their lives. Twelve years in the making, the Good News For You books are the ones Scott wishes his parents would have read to him when he was a child.
Autorenporträt
Scott Middleton is a storyteller and artist whose heart was broken by life, and then healed by his Savior Jesus Christ. The son of a pastor, Scott has 35 years of advertising, marketing and sales experience. He graduated from The University of Tennessee in advertising and continued his advertising education at The Portfolio Center, now The Miami Ad School Atlanta. For 15 years, he taught Sunday School for kids ages 6 to 14, and taught inmates at a Texas state prison for two years.Scott's success as a teacher came from joining his advertising skills and his passion for God. When he began teaching kindergarteners, he sought a simple way to communicate the gospel. He "storyboarded" his lessons in the same way he learned to "storyboard" television commercials. Through illustrations, Scott linked the gospel story to a child's perspective. Scott began to see the fruit of his work as parents saw changes in their children. Many children accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and moved toward becoming disciples of Jesus. In 2010, Scott was inspired to transform these ideas into the "Good News For U" book, published by Westbow Press in 2016. The second edition, "Good News For You Child and Parent Devotional" uses 250 scriptures seven Bible versions along with 56 illustrations to make the presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ even more profound. This graphically rich way of telling children about God's grace inspires faith. Scott is a former member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Free Church in Knoxville, Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois. Scott and his wife Lynette currently live in Celina, Texas, and are members of Gateway Church in Frisco, Texas.
