After graduating from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA with a degree in Illustration, RA Cook formed HMA Publishing to house her creative work. "These whimsical creations needed a place to live outside my head so I formed HMA. The initials stand for the first letter of each of my grandsons' name: Haakon, Marius and Anders." "Since they were tiny children, my grandsons have been beta listeners/readers, colorers and critquers of Grandma's stories. Bless those boys. They are my best and worst critics."RA Cook lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest. She spends her time creating: writing, sketching, illustrating, narrating her stories, and working in her garden for inspiration. When asked what makes her happy she says, "my stories, illustrations, bountiful garden-and family." Sighing, she turns to look out over the green waters of Puget Sound. "Oops! And my special dog friend, Stuart. He makes me happy. Life wouldn't be right without him."
