Like many emerging countries, Morocco is currently facing a sustained growth in urban travel needs. This growth is directly linked to a strong increase in urbanization - an unavoidable phenomenon in recent decades. Indeed, it seems that the supply of public transport, particularly the institutional supply of companies, cannot keep up with the relentless growth in demand. This book deals with aspects related to the management of the public transport sector in the Moroccan urban environment. Often, the cases of delegated management of the urban public transport service have been extensively treated, whereas this research focuses on the case of the city of Safi, being a medium-sized city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, large enough to represent an adequate framework of study to deal with the problem of the mobility of the population. Also, the management, finally, of the urban public transport service in the city is done by autonomous management. This allows us to question the concept of public service and to study a case of management by autonomous management.
