Every animal deserves to be given a second chance and all elderly dogs deserve to be loved, cherished and well looked after at a time in their lives when they need it the most. Every animal deserves to be given a second chance and all elderly dogs deserve to be loved, cherished and well looked after at a time in their lives when they need it the most. I was born with a deep love for senior dogs, even as a small child I thought there was something special about them. I was drawn to the greying faces, cloudy eyes and stiff walks and I vowed that one day I would create a beautiful place for elderly dogs to come and live out the rest of their days with that extra bit of care, attention and understanding. My vision was to care for the old dogs that nobody else wanted. And so over a decade ago my husband and I bought a little farm, sold our suburban home and headed off to live in the country. We had big dreams, starry eyes and hearts overflowing with love. And that was how Grace Farm Senior Pug Sanctuary first started out. Where some see old dogs as trash, insignificant, cast offs that needed to be thrown away, we see them as treasures, little hero's for reaching such wonderful ages, to us their value is beyond measure. Along the way we have added some elderly sheep and horses to our large four legged family. Over the pages of this book you will hear all about the lives these old, sometimes deaf, sometimes blind and sometimes paraplegic, animals lived, you'll get to read their stories and no doubt fall as much in love with them as we did.
Autorenporträt
Andrea Comer was born in the United Kingdom and migrated to Australia with her family when she was six years old. From a very young age Andrea became aware of the way animals were treated in this world and vowed that one day she would create a place where elderly animals could live out their natural lifespan without knowing fear, feeling pain or enduring suffering. Grace Farm Senior Pug Sanctuary was a dream she carried in her heart for a very long time before it became a reality. Andrea lives with her husband and a cloud of elderly pugs, sheep and horses. Her days are spent taking care of her large four legged family, but sometimes in the late afternoon when the pugs are sleeping she has time to write. The Joy of Horton is Andrea's first book.
