This book proposes as general objective: to sustain that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) is an active methodology that contributes in the significant achievement of the competences of the graduate profile of the engineering student. The methodology is of the scientific literature review type; composed of four phases: definition of objectives, information search, information organization, and information analysis. The results obtained show the characteristics of the PBL methodology for engineering, such as learning: student-focused, critical, collaborative, active and holistic. The competences of the engineering student applying this methodology are: solving problems, using techniques and tools, and learning with autonomy in a continuous way. The teacher's strategies to apply the methodology in engineering are: design problems, promote communication, encourage continuous research, and improve collaborative learning with motivation.
