Francis Whiting Halsey (October 15, 1851 - November 24, 1919) was a New York-born American journalist, editor, and historian. He was the son of Civil War Physician Dr. Gaius Leonard Halsey and Juliet (Cartington) Halsey. He was the grandson of Dr. Gaius and Mary (Church) Halsey of Kortright, New York, and a descendant of Thomas Halsey, who arrived from England about 1640 and helped create Southampton, Long Island, one of New York's early English colonies.
