This is an anthology in which the contributors have drawn many connections between great feats of engineering and consumer markets between the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries. The engineers have been selected from many different specializations, from automotive engineering exemplified by Karl Benz, cosmetic engineering in the case of Estee Lauder, to digital engineering as developed by Larry Page and Sergei Brin of Google, and Marissa Mayer of Yahoo! They have show-cased these inspiring luminaries as well as nine others, because their life experiences as engineers and subsequently as "entrepreneurs" or "intrapreneurs", were considered enlightening and relevant to our own lives today. Each contributor in this anthology has highlighted his or her choice of engineer as the source of new inspiration for consumer markets, which have always thrived on innovation and creativity. Each writer connects innovative advancements in technology with the ways in which those developments crossed over into the commercial arena for the benefit of everyone.
