Nelson Harris has written six books on Virginia history. Serving as mayor of Roanoke and pastor of Virginia Heights Baptist Church, Harris stays involved in the Roanoke community. As a distinguished citizen of Roanoke, Harris has received several awards including the "Roanoker of the Year" award and a "Distinguished Service Award" from Radford University.
