This research studied GMPs (Green Manufacturing Practices) undertaken on water and energy among manufacturing companies in Kenya, looking into the potential drivers, barriers, and prospects to the adoption of GMPs. The study addressed three research questions. What are the existing GMP linked to water and energy among the manufacturing companies in Kenya? What are the drivers and barriers for Kenyan manufacturing companies to implement GMP? What measures can be taken to accelerate the prospects of GMP among the manufacturing companies in Kenya? A review of existing knowledge was undertaken. This explored the definition and nature of GMPs and how they can be distinguished from other key concepts such as sustainable production. GMP was explored in the context of Kenya and private manufacturing companies. The findings highlighted that the adoption of GMP is not new to the companies. Though the practices undertaken by the companies can be categorised as best practices, there is still potential for further innovation.
