What really goes on past the dark treeline of the Black Forest? When Damon Grimm washes up on the shores of a forgotten island in the North Sea, he finds himself in the company of strangers even stranger than himself. Through his new friends, Damon uncovers the history of the island, forming connections to the mysterious Black Forest, and Damon's own checkered past. Join a ragtag crew of the lost descendants of folklore, myth, legend, and fable as they embark on a journey to save their parents from an unknown fate, and discover the secrets of the Black Forest! "Is he dead?" "I'm not sure... Touch him." "You touch him!" "Should we tell Brian?" Damon's mind swam. Am I dead? He coughed and opened his eyes. He was lying on his back, and the sky above him was bright and blue again. He squinted at the sun and covered his eyes with the back of his palm. His skin felt clammy and cold, and his arm felt almost heavy to move, like it was soaked with water. He could taste the salt in the air. He sucked in, trying to get a good breath, but he could still feel water in his lungs. He turned his head to the side, feeling like he was about to throw up. It was then that he became aware of the big furry orange face looking down on him.

Autorenporträt
Evan Chaika is an author and musician, born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as the only child of parents Darin and Leanne. Evan began writing stories at the age of five, by telling his mother about the adventures of an anthropomorphic mouse as she wrote them down into little books. Starcharter is the first of many novels Evan intends to publish, ranging in genre from fantasy, to documentary, to perhaps a mixture of both. One of his main sources of inspiration is looking towards the night sky and wondering what could lay beyond what the naked eye can see; making Starcharter the natural introduction into a long career in writing.
