Just 10 minutes from Detroit, down Michigan Avenue, is the working class city of Inkster. That's where John Sharnetsky grew up. During those youth and adolescent years, John was able to form the common themes of his stories of young people starting their climb on the social ladder to only make their mistakes along the way. Later, when John moved on to Lansing, Michigan, he discovered a more diverse town, a city where a swirl of governmental and industrial workers hooked up in a large college town to create a fun and eclectic community. Inside this environment, he was able to meet some of the most interesting people that greatly influenced his life. John's writing style could be described as simple, yet descriptive, taking complex topics and writing about them where everyday people could understand them. He writes in the way he likes to read. Reading and writing should be fun, like a movie in your head.
