Produktbeschreibung
The book "Growth of Seed Industries in India: Prospects and Challenges" by Dr. Siddharajsinh Ranjitsinh Raj examines the evolution, current status, and future potential of India's seed industry. Highlighting seeds' pivotal role in boosting agricultural productivity, it outlines the industry's transformation from limited private participation in the 1960s to becoming globally recognized, with private companies now driving innovation and turnover. The author discusses factors such as the Seed Replacement Rate (SRR), government policies, and technological advances that influence seed production and quality. Challenges like high costs, regulatory hurdles, and inadequate supply contrast with opportunities in R&D, hybrid seed development, and integration with other inputs like fertilizers and pest control. Case studies reveal higher yields and economic returns with quality seeds, underscoring their role in enhancing food security and sustainability. With recommendations for improving accessibility, boosting public-private collaboration, and strengthening regulations, the book charts a comprehensive roadmap for advancing India's seed industry.
