But this was not to be, for as with many towns and villages of that period according to their strength in men, bandits held many of them hostage. Their disruptive appearance threw the village and the town into an uproar of fear and anger, as their food sources were plundered, and their peace of mind so suddenly violated. The fearful threat of indecision of the villagers, and townspeople as to how to handle this situation, gave the bandits the time they needed to overwhelm both the town and village.
