One of the things I absolutely love about guinea pigs is their personality. These little creatures are like tiny balls of joy with their own unique characters. Unlike some other small pets that might be nocturnal or super skittish, guinea pigs are active during the day when you're awake, which means you can actually interact with them when it's convenient for you. Plus, they live considerably longer than many other small pets - typically 4-8 years - giving you plenty of time to build a real bond with them. Speaking of bonds, let me share something that still amazes me about guinea pigs: they actually recognize their owners! When they see you coming, they'll often start wheeling (that's what we call their excited jumping and running) and making these adorable little noises called "wheeks."
