Haddo Reimagined is an exciting collaboration between photographer, Susan Orr and flash fiction writer, Rae Cowie. The pair aimed to capture the essence of Haddo Country Park through forgotten stories, secret places, as well as the exceptional flora and fauna that make the Aberdeenshire Park so special. By focusing on Haddo's hidden corners, they unearthed fascinating features such as the notable Kemble's seat, named after renowned West End regency actor, John Philip Kemble; the magical artists' bracket mushroom, used as a canvas for art and writing; as well as much-loved folk tales, including mention of the Doolies, an area of wide meadowland where fairy folk live. A project strongly rooted in a sense of place, Susan and Rae are grateful for the support of Haddo Arts, The National Trust for Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council Can Do Project, Creative Scotland, Haddo employees, Friends of Haddo volunteers, all at Tarves Heritage Centre, employees of the University of Aberdeen Museums and Special collections, as well as the editing skills of photography and writing friends.
