These haikus deviate innintions from the traditional Japanese style while they try to follow the presctobed 5-7-5 rhythym. Jaroslav (Jarda) Cervenka was born in Prague in 1933. First part of his lif he spent in science (MD, PhD in genetics, in Czech Academy of Sciences) After Russians invasion of Czechoslovakia he emigrated with wife Sasha and son Vojta to Minnesota, to the University of Minnesota, where he became Professor of Medical Genetics.. Later he became writer, (11 books) winning awards.Traveled World extensively, spent extended times in Europe, Japan and Africa, studying cancer, races and ethnicities. Was fascinated by Nature in four visits to Amazonia, also forests in South America, South Pacific, Asia. He spends his years in part in Minnesota, Wisconsin cabin and Florida Keys residence.. Travels to Prague, for friends, often. His greatest pleasure is his family, admires all of his 1st and 2nddegree relatives.
