The Haikus in this books covers a range of topics from social injustices to religion. Some of these Haikus are my attempt at play on words, some are short stories, and others are words of encouragement. Many are comical. I optimistic that these Haikus bring you as much joy as I have had writing them. Enjoy, and hopefully they inspire to compose Haikus of your own.

Autorenporträt
Comedian, Poet, and Motivational Speaker Derrick Standifer has been performing poetry and teaching workshops for the past eight years. After graduating high school, he came to Tallahassee and became a part of the poetry troupe Black on Black Rhyme. This organization counters Black on Black Crime and other negativities by finding peace and power in words. Derrick lost his scholarship at FAMU and transferred to Georgia State University, where he flunked out of school a year after enrolling. For the next two years, Derrick was embarrassed and battled depression by writing, performing and teaching poetry, chess, and Rubik's Cubes to children. Derrick decided to return to school and earned his Bachelor's Degree in 2014. In the two years afterwards, Derrick married Jasmine Johnson, the two gave birth to a beautiful girl, Ayana, and they are expecting another. Derrick will now embark on a journey as an educator teaching in his hometown Atlanta, Georgia.
