He is the author of more than fifty published novels, including "Compound Murder," "Murder of a Beauty Shop Queen," "Wild Hog Murder" and "Murder in the Air." In 2010, he was inducted into the Texas Literary Hall of Fame. He lives with his wife in Alvin, Texas.
