Created on March 1, 1828, and named for the first signer of the Declaration of Independence, Hancock County has rich traditions that have made it unique in the story of the Hoosier State. From its early beginnings as fertile farmland to its industrial boom, this history of the county chronicles the years from 1880 to the present and provides a postcard viewpoint of local heritage, celebrations, institutions, and individuals. Many of the postcards come from private collections and have not been previously published. These images offer the reader an opportunity to travel down the dusty roads of the past and examine the spirit of Hancock County.
