Now-a-days most of the drugs are available in the market as prefabricated dosage forms, still students should learn the techniques and skills, which are essential to prepare various pharmaceutical dosage forms. A number of textbooks are available for Dispensing pharmacy, but theoretical aspects like, understanding of Latin terms, conversion and calculation of prescriptions given in Latin, packing (dispensing) techniques, labeling instructions required, for different dosage forms etc., are not found in a single book. Hence an attempt for the same has been done in this Handbook of Dispensing Pharmacy - I. Certain salient features of this handbook are, the book has been mainly divided into four parts as Latin terms, Pharmaceutical incompatibilities, Solid dosage forms and Liquid dosage forms. Altogether approximately 100 prescriptions are included in this handbook, which will give the better choice for teachers to select the prescription, depending on the availability of materials.

Mr. Hardik K. Patel, earned his M. Pharm (Pharmaceutics) from S. K. Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Ganpat University, Kherva, Gujarat and MBA (HRM) from IGNOU, New Delhi. He has been working as Lecturer at A. R. College of Pharmacy & G. H. Patel Institute of Pharmacy, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, India since March - 2010.
