Face is the most visible portion of the body and is the feature first noticed by others. Presence of any dark lesions on the face may be associated with significant psychosocial and cosmetic outcomes. The facial melanoses include a diverse range of disorders that have in common darkening of the facial skin. There is significant paucity in studies that have looked at Wood's lamp, dermoscopic and histopathologic features of all the facial melanoses. Furthermore, most of the studies have focused on dermoscopic findings in lighter skin colour. An extensive search of the existing databases did not reveal any study published from Nepal that has investigated dermoscopy findings in these conditions. This handbook provides concise information on aetiology, clinical features, diagnostic measures and therapeutic modalities of common facial melanoses. The chapters have been arranged in an alphabetical order. The format of the book has been kept as practical and user friendly as possible. It is our belief that this handbook will serve as a useful tool to practicing dermatologists and postgraduate students worldwide for diagnosis and management of these conditions.
