This volume brings Iwand's reflections on justification to bear on questions of the intersection of church and society. Iwand critiques the typical Lutheran understanding of the two kingdoms and charts a new way forward for understanding Luther's theology, as well as the way it addresses Christian life within society. Most importantly, Iwand discusses church and society, which have so often been closed to one another, and how they have been and continue to be opened up to each other by the kingdom of God.

Ben Haupt is Associate Provost and Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Missouri, USA. Christian Neddens is Professor for Systematic Theology at Lutherische Theologische Hochschule in Oberursel, Germany. Michael Basse is Professor in Protestant Theology at TU Dortmund, Germany. Christian Einertson is in the PhD program at Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Missouri, USA. Gerard den Hertog is Emeritus Professor of Systematic Theology at the Theological University in Apeldoorn, Netherlands.
