Once upon a time on a small farm, two sisters were playing outside and swinging on a rope swing that hung in a tree. One sister ended up standing in a nest of carpenter ants that made their home in and by the tree. Her sister tried to help get the ants off but there were more than could be picked off. Gross! Mom had to help and came up with a quick solution, but her idea left quite a puddle.

Autorenporträt
Karen Peterson is a wife and mother of three adult children. She has four grandchildren plus occasional foster grandchildren. She grew up on a farm in Southern Idaho where her sisters and she enjoyed the many adventures of growing up on a small farm. On the farm, even girls were expected to help Dad with daily outside farm chores as well as helping around the house. When they had free time, they entertained themselves by playing on old farm equipment, climbing trees, swimming in the canal, or just finding a quiet place to read. Karen is excited to share the happy memories of playing outdoors as a fun activity and how children can learn to overcome obstacles through play.As her three children were growing up, she loved reading to them. Those quiet moments reading were unforgettable and something she now shares with her grandchildren. A goal behind creating this series was to share with her children and grandchildren the fun times on the farm. Karen's Mom and Dad were challenged financially, but there was always food on the table, clothes to wear, and the love of a close-knit family. The pleasant memories of her youth are now being shared with the reader.
