Although there is considerable relationship between leprosy immunology and Haptoglobin gene regulatory mechanisms, it is hard to get research works on this area. This work is most probably the first which tried to link the clinicopathological forms of leprosy (which depend on the immune status of the host) and Haptoglobin concentration and polymorphism. Therefore, this book provides the analysis of Haptoglobin polymorphism, plasma Haptoglobin level, and ABO blood groups association with leprosy. The results show the elevation of Haptoglobin concentration in the plasma of leprosy patients along with clinic-pathological features as well as the bacterial load in patients. We believe such findings help scientific communities who work on clinical trials, immunology, serum protein properties and pathology.
