In Hard Body Pain and Massage Therapy Solutions, Martin Kunsman, a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist, offers insight into what a healthy body looks and feels like. He proposes that bodies are either Hard Bodies or Soft Bodies which can be determined by touch and sight. Hard Bodies are those whose resting muscle tone is never soft due to an imbalance of their nervous system. Hard Bodies, created by stress, tend to have more pain conditions and digestive problems than the Soft Bodies. Soft Bodies are the healthiest with soft, pliable, and elastic muscles. Soft Bodies have found a way to release stress in their lives or have an exercise program which softens their muscles. Perhaps people have been more focussed on specific areas of tightness rather than overall resting muscle tone. Mr. Kunsman proposes that the healthiest bodies are less tone when their muscles are at rest. Further, he makes the bold statement that Hard Bodies can be softened with cardio/aerobic exercise. This follow-up to his 2006 book, Hard Body Pain, Soft Body Bliss, first published in 2006, seeks to connect pain issues with the resting muscle tone of a person's body.
